SUMMARY:Metamorphoses at Cotuit Center for the Arts
DESCRIPTION:Cotuit Center for the Arts invites audiences to immerse themselves in the breathtaking world of Metamorphoses\, a spellbinding theatrical masterpiece inspired by Ovid’s ancient myths. Directed by Jason R. Mellin\, this evocative production runs February 6 through February 22 and brings stories of love\, loss\, transformation\, and redemption vividly to life. \nWritten by Tony Award–winning playwright Mary Zimmerman\, Metamorphoses masterfully blends classical mythology with contemporary themes\, using poetic language and striking visual storytelling to explore what it means to change\, to grieve\, and to love. Set within a fluid\, dreamlike world where gods and mortals collide\, the production blurs the boundary between myth and reality—creating an unforgettable theatrical experience that resonates long after the final moment. \n“Metamorphoses reminds us that change is inevitable—and often beautiful\, even when it’s painful\,” said director Jason R. Mellin. “This play speaks to the heart in a way few stories can. It’s visually stunning\, emotionally raw\, and deeply human. We’ve assembled an incredible ensemble\, and I truly believe this is a production audiences will feel in their bones.” \nPerformances will take place Fridays at 7:30 PM\, Saturdays at 5:00 PM\, and Sundays at 2:00 PM. \nThe cast includes: Lily Anderson\, Amelia Burbine\, Bill Farrell\, Emma Fitzpatrick\, Drew Frayre\, Janet Geist Moore\, Maeve Moriarty\, Erica Morris\, Avila Rudd\, Sam Sewell\, Pete Steedman\, Rachel Walman\, and Shelley West. \nGenerous support for Cotuit Center for the Arts’ main stage theater productions is graciously provided in tribute to John McGraw. \nWith its powerful performances\, immersive design\, and timeless themes\, Metamorphoses offers audiences an opportunity to experience theater at its most transformative. \nTickets are on sale now\, and early reservations are strongly encouraged. \nFor tickets and more information\, visit cotuit.org. \n

SUMMARY:Tea Time Book Club – Anxious People: a Novel by Fredrik Backman
DESCRIPTION:The Tea Time Book Club meets once a month on the third Thursday at 6 p.m. Each time we meet\, we’ll enjoy tea and take some time to catch up and get to know each other. We’ll discuss the book of the month and everyone will have an opportunity to recommend a book for the group to vote on for upcoming months. \nThe selection for the February 19 meeting is Anxious People: a Novel by Fredrik Backman. Taken hostage by a failed bank robber while attending an open house\, eight anxiety-prone strangers—including a redemption-seeking bank director\, two couples who would fix their marriages\, and a plucky octogenarian—discover their unexpected common traits. \n“A deeply funny and warm examination of how individual experiences can bring a random group of people together. Backman reveals each character’s many imperfections with tremendous empathy\, reminding us that people are always more than the sum of their flaws.” —BookPage \n“The perfect balance of heartwarming and heart-wrenching\, and Fredrik Backman has a way of simply yet elegantly describing relationships. We can all be idiots\, but we’re still all human beings worthy of connection and love.” –NPR
