Dawna Hammers: Tribute to My Father

Join singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist Dawna Hammers on Sunday, March 23, at 3 PM, at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Bass River Arts Campus, for an inspiring and entertaining afternoon of jazz as she pays and plays tribute to her father on the anniversary of his birthday.
Dawna’s Father, Johnny Hammers, played tenor sax and Dixieland clarinet with all the greats here on the cape in the 70s and 80s. He taught Dawna to listen to and learn the melody and chords of many classic American Songbook tunes by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and others! For this special performance she’ll break out his tenor sax as well as perform some of her own great songs.
Backing her up will be one of Cape’s best jazz drummers, Kareem Sanjaghi, and Berklee bass professor, Danial Morris (Danny Mo).
