Mission: The mission of ArtsFalmouth is to promote the arts, culture, and creative economy of Falmouth; to facilitate collaboration among visual, performing, and literary artists and arts organizations in Falmouth and across the Upper Cape and to encourage community engagement in the arts.
ArtsFalmouth goals are to raise awareness of the arts in the Falmouth area; provide a forum for ideas for the arts and cultural community, encourage collaboration, and represent the interests of the cultural community to the town and its citizens.
ArtsFalmouth is run by a small volunteer board with no paid staff or physical location.
History: ArtsFalmouth was formed to improve the community using arts as a vehicle and to foster a creative economy to strengthen both the arts and the business community. ArtsFalmouth was launched by an Adams Grant from the Mass Cultural Council in 2005. Originally named CONNECT, a consortium of The Cape Cod Theatre Project, the Cape Cod Conservatory, Falmouth Academy and Historic Highfield, the grant was matched two to one by private donors. Its purpose was to stimulate economic activity by encouraging the arts and to promote communication and cooperative programming.
Communication: ArtsFalmouth runs a Calendar of events in the Enterprise every Friday, runs a twice daily billboard of cultural events on FCTV, and emails a monthly newsletter listing opportunities for artists, activities, and special events. Networking events are held for artists to meet each other, coordinate events and find ways to cross promote.
Activities: The three major public activities of ArtsFalmouth are the Woods Hole Traditional Music Stroll , the Arts Alive Festival, and the Jazz Stroll and Jazz Brunch.
Events are purposely held during the shoulder seasons to promote tourism and stretch that important economic engine beyond the summer months. All events showcase the work of area artists–be they musicians, glass blowers, actors, potters, or otherwise members of the area’s richly creative community.
ArtsFalmouth also hosts an Annual Meeting, which is open to the public. We invite local visual, performing, and literary artists and arts organizations to join us for an evening of networking, information sharing, entertainment, and refreshments. In 2020, our Annual Meeting, held on December 17, was virtual. We invited representatives of area arts organizations to discuss the challenges of the pandemic and creative ways they approached the arts. See more here.
ArtsFalmouth hosts regular networking evenings for artists and friends of the arts to promote communication and cooperative programming. ArtsFalmouth sends a monthly e-newsletter that lists events and opportunities for the upcoming 30 days. If you would like to receive the newsletter, please email us at info@ArtsFalmouth.org.
