The Library’s Wellness Series continues with the return of Dr. Kumara Sidhartha, MD, MPH, speaking on Saturday, April 5, at 1:30 PM. This talk is free, donations are welcome at the door. Register online, but walk-ins are also welcome. Dr. Sidhartha, physician, author, and public health expert will discuss food strategies to prevent falls and fractures. The topics covered will include nutrients important for bone health, joint comfort, and for reducing risk of falls by focusing on muscle bulk and strength.
Drawing from his nearly 30 years of medical practice experience with a focus on nutrition, Dr. Kumara Sidhartha uses simple, everyday examples and logic to break down the complex inner workings of the human body and the effect of food on these functions. His book, All My Secrets: Messages of Health from your Body, Decoded, will be available for purchase after the talk.
Dr. Sidhartha completed Medical College in Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College in India, followed by Internal Medicine Residency training at Lincoln Medical Center, affiliated with Cornell University in New York. His pursuit of nutritional knowledge led him to complete a Master of Public Health in Nutrition at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts. In 2016, he was the medical honoree of the American Cancer Society of New England for his efforts to prevent cancer through nutrition education of the community. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is certified in Plant-based Nutrition by e-Cornell University and T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. Dr. Sidhartha currently practices Internal Medicine in southeastern Massachusetts.
