“Collected Illuminations” Art Exhibit
July 18 @ 8:00 am - August 23 @ 5:00 pm
FreeWoodruff’s Art Center 1 N. Market Street in Mashpee Commons will hold an opening reception for “Collected Illuminations,” an art exhibit featuring works by artists Stephanie King and Amy Jasperson, on Thursday, July 18, from 5 to 8:30 PM.
The exhibit runs from July 18 through August 23, 2024. The event is free
and open to the public.
The exhibit celebrates the extraordinary beauty of the seashore through glass sculpture and botanical art. Stephanie King and Amy Jasperson showcase their love for the ocean through the delicate intricacies of their individual art forms.
For Stephanie King, nature is more than just a muse; she uses real seaweed and land botanicals as her medium. By creating compositions with dried organic materials, she brings attention to the beauty of nature through her art. Stephanie is the owner of Seaside Botanical Art, through which she exhibits and sells her original artwork and prints. Through her art, she hopes to encourage people to rethink their relationship to the earth and begin to see seaweed and botanicals with a new perspective, curiosity, and appreciation.
Amy Jasperson is the owner of Oyster Design Glass Studio where she creates
one-of-a-kind, modern, stained-glass art and mixed media sculptures using the Tiffany copper foil method. The Cape’s oceans, dunes, and flowers all inspire her work. She integrates geodes, shells, sea glass, fused glass, and other found objects in her compositions. Her workhas be en displayed at galleries and art centers throughout the Cape, as well as nationally.
