Fabric and Fiber Sale

February 9 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Woods Hole Public Library will hold its annual Fabric and Fiber Sale on Sunday, February 9, from 10 AM to 2 PM.

People come from far and wide, first to donate, and later, to buy fabric, yarn, and notions. This one day event is a major source of fundraising for the Library’s operating budget, and the generosity of both donors and shoppers are crucial to its success. This year will mark the 10th year of this much anticipated community event. The sale was started in honor of Fabric Corner, Falmouth’s former fabric store which used to have an annual sale on the same day as Super Bowl Sunday to give family members who just might not be thrilled about the football game an alternative enticing event. It has now taken on a life of its own as a way to keep usable textiles and other related items out of the waste stream and into the hands of eager crafters while also benefiting our community-supported village Library.

The Library is able to receive donations beginning in January, so people should feel free and inspired to clean out their closets and boxes as soon as possible, then take the overage down to Woods Hole, where it will be happily received anytime the Library is open. All kinds of usable fabrics, yarn, and notions are accepted. Please do not drop off draperies, however.

A list of donation guidelines can be found on the Library’s website at https://woodsholepubliclibrary.org/fabric-fiber-sale. If anyone has questions, they may call the Library at 508-548-8961, email whpl_mail@clamsnet.org, or visit the website woodsholepubliclibrary.org.
