Live Jazz:  Olivia Chindamo Trio

Jazz vocalist Olivia Chindamo will perform at West Falmouth Library on Sunday, March 17 at 7 PM.  Ms. Chindamo will be joined by saxophonist Evan Harris and pianist Matthew Sheens.

Ms. Chindamo, an Australian-born New York-based jazz vocalist, possesses a unique voice that effortlessly carries and weaves stories and melodies with integrity, honesty, and musicianship. With a special love for improvisation, she fuses a knowledge of jazz history with her modern sensibilities, impressive technical control, and textural versatility. Olivia has performed extensively in the United States at various world-renown venues such as The Kennedy Center, Dizzy’s Club, The Lincoln Center, and Birdland Jazz Club, and has toured internationally.

Joining Ms. Chindamo on stage is saxophonist and composer Evan Harris.  Evan’s “vividly evocative” sound has garnered him critical acclaim.  His debut album Skylines received three nominations for the 2018 Australian Jazz Bell Award:  Best Instrumental Jazz Album, Best Produced Album and Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year.  Evan can often be found playing in New York City at venues such as the Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Minton’s Playhouse, and Smalls Jazz Club.

Described as a “muscular” pianist by Downbeat Magazine, Matthew Sheens completes the trio.   He is known as a genre-bending jazz composer, pianist, and versatile sideman.  He has performed at U.S. and international jazz festivals and arranged and composed for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Czech National Symphony, Prague.

Tickets for the March 17 concert are $40 and available in advance at FalmouthJazz.org. The performance is at West Falmouth Library, 575 West Falmouth Highway, West Falmouth.  Doors open at 6:30 for 7 PM performance.
