Reinventing Liberal Arts Education in an Era of Climate Change
February 26 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
How should liberal arts education respond to climate change? What can the humanities and social sciences teach us about climate science and how to live well in a warming world?
Join a discussion on these questions at the Woods Hole Public Library on Monday, February 26, at 6:30 PM.
The discussion will be led by Ana Isabel Keilson and Justin Reynolds, Co-Founders and Co-Directors of the Gull Island Institute, whose mission is to reimagine liberal arts education for an era of climate change. Founded in 2022, the Institute runs programs for small cohorts of undergraduates and faculty on Penikese and Cuttyhunk Islands anchored in the pillars of academics, physical labor, and student self-governance. As well as a chance to learn more about the Institute and its approach to place-based learning, the event will be an opportunity to investigate together a question particularly important to our town. What can – and can’t – the natural sciences teach us about how to inhabit a place well?
Woods Hole Public Library is at 581 Woods Hole Road in Woods Hole.
